Consultation Request
The consultation room is accessible by appointment.
The Musée de la civilisation must ensure that the documents, books, and objects in their collections are protected. Researchers must comply with the consultation room conditions.
To assist you in your research, there is a team of professionals onsite, including archivists and technicians.
At the time of your appointment:
Visitors must register in the visitor logbook at the Jerôme-Demers Pavilion’s reception counter.
Proof of vaccination is required and wearing a procedural mask is mandatory at all times.
Personal belongings must be left in the cloakroom; it is available to visitors at no charge.
In the Reading Room:
Only pencils, sheets of paper, and laptop computers (with no computer case) shall be allowed in the room.
A research form must be filled out by the researcher indicating the document’s call number, title, and location, if available. Only one document may be consulted at a time.
Cotton gloves are provided onsite for consulting archives and rare books.
The file’s order of classification must be respected.
Consulting documents:
The documents must not be removed from the Reading Room.
The researcher must handle the documents with care.
The researcher must return the documents consulted 10 minutes before closing time and leave the room on time.
It is forbidden to:
Eat, drink, or use a phone or handheld scanner in the Reading Room.
Printing documents:
From microfilm only for internal archives. Cost $1 (taxes included)
The staff at the Direction des collections and safety personnel are authorized to examine any container carried by a person leaving the premises.
