I have a kiddie car that belonged to my Father. He was born in 1918. I remember my brother and I riding it when we were small. It has held up pretty well although it does have some repair to a crack in the wood and I can barely make out the maker's stamp on it anymore. I've always thought that if they could invent a toy that was sure to tip over, give a child a head injury and poke his ey out at the same time then this is it....but I love it!

My Neighbor's father was the accountant for John C Mundell factory. She gave me her Kiddie Kar that was made for her with all wooden trailer, both unpainted. i have extra decals, handlebars, wheel forks. Growing up in Elora Ont the old factory was a place to play. The wooden parts were just lying around the factory floor.

I have a Kiddie Kar that my sister-in-law sent to me from Mpls (for my grandson to ride) after my brother's death, He was 27 months older than me (b. 8.31.1926). This toy was probably purchased by my parents or their friends in the late 1920's who lived in or near my home in Warsaw, IL. My nephews rode it hard and it is not in very good condition (tires & steering). It is not for sale.

The "kiddie kar" was invented by Clarence White in North Bennington, Vermont spring 1914. He obtained the original patent the following year. The manufacturer in Canada copied the kar several years later. The H. C. White factory was manufacturing the stereo viewer & photos up to the time of the kiddie kar. The 4 acre factory then went into the production of the kar along with the "koaster wagon" and other related childrens toys.

manufactured by: john c. mundell & co. limited. elora, ontario.1896 to 1931. he was the son of a furnature maker/buisnessman. i purchaced an end table with a slight deco era theme that does look like a down sized version of what it should have been. (childrens furnature?). tiger grains and bakelite handle. a uniquely exsquisite conversation piece.

I live about 2000yrds away from the Kiddie Kar factory ruins. The building still stands albeit without a roof or windows. External shots of the building were used in the movie "An American Christmas Carol" with Henry Winkler, done in the early 80's I believe. If anyone is interested, I can email a couple of photos of the factory as it stood in the 1950's and present day.

I have my Kiddie Kar because of my grandfather Lloyd.
My Kar has 4 patent dates on the bottom. They are April 25, 1916,
March 20, 1917, December 26, 1918 and Deccember 24, 1918.
The price of $3.00 was written in pencil on the bottom.
My great grandparents made sure their children took great care with
such a precious toy. I took my newborn son to visit my grandfather in
the nursing home. When I told him Blake would now get to enjoy
it like he had, he shook his finger and said- You make sure he doesn't break it - it's precious.
break it-it's precious!

My family tells me that the name "Kiddie Car" was copywrighted by my great-grandfather, John Marshall Crowe. He had invented a child's tricycle-type toy at The Crowe Engineering Company, which sat behind the center-field wall of Crosley Field in Cincinnati, OH, in the 1940's and 1950's. I've been researching this for years to no avail. Any information sent to me on this subject would be appriciated.

I recently purchased a Kiddie Kar exactly like the one pictured at an auction. It is in pretty good shape and after a little work I had it in useable condition. Bought it for my toddler (tired of the plastic toys) and he loves it. His mother likes it too though she cringes whenever it tips over. The handle and his head seem like they're made from attracting magnets.

Help please......Were there a number of years when this "Kar" was made? I have one that was supposed to belong to my father, but he was born in 1919 and this doesn't seem to fit.
Thanks for any help you can give.

Do you know who invented the Kiddie Car? From my chilchood memories, I believe my grandfather, Perry Snyder had something to do with its invention or manufacture.
